Called To Serve: Roseville, California

Hunter received his mission call on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. He was at SUU and couldn't come home to open it until Friday. He said it was the longest 2 days of his life! Dad locked it in Hunter's gun safe so no one would be tempted to look...

Getting his call out of the gun safe on Friday, February 24th

Isn't it pretty!?

Driving home from SUU to open his call was the longest trip of his life, but these 2 made it a little easier. The three amigos!

Family and friends gathered for this exciting day!

Mom threw quite the party!
Trying to get some inspiration on what that special letter held...

We had everyone write their guesses as to where he was going on a sticky note. Dad planned prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-
GUESSES????

And FINALLY, the moment came to open his mission call-
Hunter explained the significance of the knife he was using to cut open his call. It was given to him by his Grandpa Payne who passed away in 2003. What a special moment...

"Dear Elder Payne:
"You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to Labor in the California Roseville Mission....You should report to the Provo MTC on Wednesday, May 30, 2012."

Tears, hugs, and shouts of excitement from family and friends (and mom & dad, of course!)
Scoping out the mission boundaries and area...
(Hunts discovered there was a place called "Payne's Creek" in his mission. It's meant to be!)

The rest of the night was filled with phone calls from family and friends and spending lots of time on the computer getting to know the Roseville, California area.

Congratulations Hunter!
